Pints With a Priest

Thursday, June 3, 2021

Sr. Josephine Garrett CSFN hosted our second Pints with a Priest, accompanied by Fr. Hank, to discuss the mental health of young adults. She explained how features of modern culture, such as social media and a lack of good friendships, have seriously affected the mental health of millennials and Gen Z. She then went on to give some practical advice on how to counteract these trends, and encouragement that it is a struggle worth making for the sake of the Kingdom! We had a lot of interested onlookers as Sr. Josephine gave her talk, and afterward many young adults stayed behind to chat and build community! Check out some photos from the evening!

The St. Philip Institute hosted its very first Pints with a Priest. Fr. Lowry (Pastor of St. Edwards in Athens) led a discussion on The Four Loves by C.S Lewis. Joined by 14 young adults, Fr. Lowry discussed the importance of Storge, Philia, Eros, and Agape and how although each one is different, they overlap each other and strengthen relationships. This was a great launch of “Pints with a Priest” a ministry with the purpose of building and strengthening friendships among the Young Adult Community in the Diocese of Tyler.

We welcome any Young Adults (ages 18-39) to join us for the next “Pints with a Priest “on Thursday, June 3, 2021, at True Vine Brewing Company (2453 Earl Campbell Pkwy, Tyler, TX 75701) at 7 pm. Come enjoy pizza, drinks, and most importantly community!
