Going Deeper: Divine Mercy (Confession)

“Father, I Have Sinned Against Heaven and Before You”

We are sinners and we deserve condemnation. But God loves us and had mercy on us, sending his only Son to take on our fallen human nature, to redeem it, and to make eternal life available to us once again, having lost it by the sin of Adam. The experience the mercy of God in a very special, personal way is in the sacrament of penance.

Discussion Questions:

1. Do I recognize that my sin offends God?

2. Do I see how my sins led Christ to death on the cross?

3. Do I strive to root out all sin from my life, with the help of the grace of God?

4. What can I do to make reparation for my sins?

“Confession heals, confession justifies, confession grants pardon of sin, all hope consists in confession; in confession there is a chance for mercy.” -St. Isidore of Seville
