The St. Philip and the Ethiopian is an original painting by Robert Puschautz. It hangs in the office of the St. Philip Institute and the Diocese of Tyler; but now you can bring it to your home!
St. Philip and the Ethiopian shows the story of Acts 8:26-39. In this passage, the Holy Spirit prompts St. Philip to join an Ethiopian man in his chariot. The man is reading from the prophet Isaiah when St. Philip asks, "Do you understand what you are reading?" The Ethiopian responds, "How can I, unless someone guides me?" St. Philip teaches him how Isaiah's prophecy points to Jesus Christ, and the man converts to Christianity. This painting displays the very purpose of the St. Philip Institute. How can the faithful understand the teachings of Christ and his Church, unless someone guides them?
