The Pieta is a master copy painting by Robert Puschautz. It was inspired by William Bouguereau's painting of the same name. The Pieta hangs alongside Robert's Madonna of the Roses in the sanctuary at the St. John Paul II Catholic Campus Ministry at UT Tyler; but now you can bring it to your home!

In the Pieta, Mary sits in front of the empty cross, holding the body of her son. The Pieta captures the raw emotion of the moment when Jesus' body was taken down from the cross. Our Lady's eyes in this painting convey the most profound sense of pain as she holds the lifeless body of Jesus. This sense of loss is not uncommon. When we feel the great pain of loss in our own lives, it can be comforting to take them to our Lady in prayer. She knows how we feel.
