Lesson 22: “Into Your Hands, Lord, I Commend My Spirit”

Holy Week and the Sacred Triduum are the days from Palm Sunday through Easter Sunday, and they are the high point of the liturgical year for all Christians. These days of prayer commemorate our Lord’s entry into Jerusalem through his trial and suffering and death; and finally, in Easter, his resurrection. These days of prayer include some of the most solemn and beautiful liturgies of the year, and it is the right and duty of every Christian to participate in them so as to receive their benefits and to assist in building up the Kingdom of God.

Discussion Questions:

1. Do I give the Lord extra time in prayer during Holy Week?

2. How can I experience more deeply the rites of Holy Week?

3. Could I spend more time before the Blessed Sacrament on a regular basis? How so?

“We can’t let Holy Week be just a kind of commemoration. It means contemplating the mystery of Jesus Christ as something that continues to work in our souls.” -St. Josemaria Escriva
