Lesson 7: “My Soul Magnifies the Lord”
We will be looking at the Annunciation to discuss Mary as a model of discernment and focus particularly on joy and how words and actions correspond with a heart for God. Joy is the virtue that is an appropriate response to doing the will of God, because the only thing God wants is our happiness and joy.
Discussion Questions:
1.What do you think holds people back from being “good” examples?
2. Do you think you settle for pleasure instead of joy? How do you see this in your life?
3. When do you hold back from prayer? From praising God publicly? Why?
4. Discernment of your vocation: How does Mary’s Magnificat help you to discern?
“Mary’s greatness consists in the fact that she wants to magnify God and not herself” -Pope Benedict XVI
