LESSON 24: THE EUCHARIST IS THE “SOURCE OF SUMMIT OF CHRISTIAN LIFE”

The Church teaches us that the Eucharist is the source and summit of Christian life and that we are to build our whole lives around the celebration of the Paschal Mystery in the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass. The Church is built upon and flows towards the Eucharistic, and the memorial of the Last Supper and Christ’s saving death on the cross are united in the celebration of the Mass which gives us the Eucharist.

LESSON 25: THE EUCHARIST – WHY WE WORSHIP

The Eucharist is instituted and offered for the following reasons: (1) The Mass is instituted and offered as an act of praise to the Father; (2) It is instituted and offered as the memorial of Christ’s passion, death, and resurrection; (3) it manifests Jesus’ deep desire to be with us, in the giving of the true body and blood of our Lord. The real presence of Jesus in the Eucharist is the way in which he is present to us most vividly throughout our life on earth.

LESSON 26: THE EUCHARIST – HOW WE WORSHIP

In the Holy Sacrifice of the Mass, we participate in the one sacrifice of Christ, the everlasting pledge of his love of the Father and each of us. The movements, words, silence, and whole structure of the Mass leads us into a personal encounter with the living God in the Eucharist. To receive Jesus worthily in communion is the highest union we can experience with God this side of heaven.

LESSON 27: THE EUCHARIST – ADORATION

The highest thoughts and sentiments of the human being always draw the person nearer to God, and nowhere is this more obvious than in the Eucharist. The great churches, the music, the art, all of these great achievements point towards the enduring impact of Christ present to mankind in the Eucharist. The way of showing love for him is in adoring him in the Eucharist..
