Lesson 1: Divine Revelation
The St. Philip Institute of Catechesis and Evangelization is proud to present the new standardized textbook for RCIA (Christian Initiation) classes in the Diocese of Tyler. The Way of Christ introduces readers to the fundamental teachings of the Catholic Church, the basics of what Catholics believe and how Catholics should live. It contains answers to common questions about Catholic beliefs and practices. By reading through these lessons, especially with a teacher, the reader will come to know this simple and profound faith, the faith taught by Jesus Christ and handed down in the one Church He established.
The Way of Christ: Student's Book is intended to be used in a variety of ways. It may be read as part of a personal study of Catholicism. It can refresh the knowledge of those who are already practicing Catholics. It can reintroduce the Catholic faith to someone who has been away from the Church for some time.
The Way of Christ: Teacher's Guide provides an ideal structure for one year of adult faith formation or for an RCIA curriculum. The 32 lessons can be spread throughout the year, so that the first 26 are studied prior to Easter and the last six, the “Going Deeper” lessons, are examined during the Easter season.
These book are available in English and Spanish bundles or individual copies.
In addition, we are rolling out a full set of 5-10 minute videos such as the one above for each lesson, along with more teacher resources including online quizzes, lesson plans, and DVD sets. Please visit the St. Philip Institute of Catechesis and Evangelization website for these and more resources to teach and proclaim the Catholic faith.
